What on earth could I be talking about? The fantastic book called "Who Moved My Cheese" tells all and I don't want to ruin it for you but I will do my best to spell out what I mean here in just a minute.
Yes it's been talked about much lately and you've maybe even heard of the Buzz Words Web 2.0 Marketing & Social Media Marketing.
Some folks on the web are already tired of hearing these so called buzz words but the affects of such marketing are just now starting to take on main stream awareness.
What am I talking about and how does it pertain to you building your network marketing business?
Let me give you some insight.
Recently a politician by the name of Ron Paul used Social Media to raise over $10 Million dollars in small donations and changed political fund raising forever. I'm not saying use social media to become a politician I'm just pointing out the power and leverage of this medium even in main stream politics.
Some of the larger and most obvious Social Media examples are Digg.com, Myspace.com and Facebook.com however some of the up and coming sites are Stumbleupon.com, Scribd.com & Hubpages.com.
See some of my profile & News pages are below:
Social Media Marketing is tapping into these "communities" and building relationships with people in them. (That's the dumbed down version for me lol) It also allows you to gain access to larger networks of people and communities to brand yourself and your business to.
These sights act as a conduit or bridge to you and what solutions you have to offer int he way of Quality Content. Building relationships through FREE quality content 1st is paramount.
Now before you go and put up or re-arrange your Myspace account with your products and opportunity a lead capture page and wait for people to flock to it and sign up with you and your company there are some basics you need to make yourself aware of.
- People in social media communities are not looking to be SOLD anything. They are looking for community and knowledge and if you walk into a community out right pulling the used car salesman tactics or just pushing your opportunity or products you will be outcast the circle as quickly as you were accepted in. It's embarrassing and non productive to say the least.
- Bring the community value 1st. People are attracted to people they know like and trust. One of the best ways of building trust is giving Quality Content for FREE. Your expertise or knowledge on a particular subject offered at zero cost and helps solve a communities problem is a great way to build trust first.
- It takes time to build trust. Fact is this isn't something you can rush. If you want to brand yourself in a particular area and attract people it takes time and specific actions. I'm not going to outline those here because this isn't a 2.0 training.
I'll be the first to admit I'm not an expert yet but I don't have to be. I have to get it going and I am getting educated on it through a couple of different mediums. Social Media can change daily and trends come and go.
I'm only bringing Social Media and Web 2.0 up because of this: The cheese in network marketing has moved and is in the process of moving even more. To tap into a larger target market faster you have to move into the social media play ground.
Does this mean that you shouldn't be working your traditional network marketing means? Absolutely not. Continue it because I sure am.
I am though, on the other side of the coin connecting and building relationships with many more people quicker through Social Media marketing also.
Keep in mind you MUST continue your personal development. To gain access to larger numbers of people faster also means you must be prepared to engage with them on a personal basis eventually.
Social Media works and it's where the masses are hanging out.
I'm not expert by any means but I am moving in that direction because movie stars, musicians and businesses are all reinventing themselves for long term sustainability and profitability.
Gotta go, cheese on the move again...I'll keep you informed as I learn more.
