Yesterday I mentioned that I was going to write about how to get yourself back in the hot seat with your business if you're not
feeling it like you used to. If this doesn't pertain to yourself personally I highly recommend you read it so you know how to coach your challenged team members through it..
So let's get to it.
You see one of the reasons I work from home is the freedom it gives me. The idea of working from the same cubicle day in and day out is absolutely scary to me. The idea of going into the same setting day in day out is absolutely petrifying.
I work from the comfort of home and if I choose to change my scenery I can certainly do so at will. I have a wireless card and a cell phone that has unlimited and nationwide minutes so I can literally do my business anywhere in the U.S.
I like that freedom and it was worth fighting for in the beginning and disciplining myself still today.
That kind of freedom is what's in it for me. I'll explain what that is so important in a minute.
As you begin to read this, through my story, I want you to find your why.
Your reason for choosing your vehicle is maybe different or it isn't. I originally was a customer of the services that I still market 8 years later. I didn't initially see the marketing side of it though.
Matter of fact I loved the company's services except for the "pyramid part." Seriously I said that haha.
I still laugh when I say it.
So the services was my first love. Making money with it came 2nd. The mission or vision actually came 3rd as I realized that making money should be a by product of the passion for the service and mission.
There is a fine line between focusing on your network marketing business being profitable and staying passionate about it as well.
Passion vs profit in business to some people is like saying which came first, the chicken or the egg?
Many traditional business owners will tell you that profit is the reason you start a business and I believe that works from some people, however a person has to buy into what they are marketing period and be passionate about it. There must be a passion for the product or services for longevity in your business.
Unlike a traditional business, you're not looking for a niche to start a business. A good network marketing company has already done that research and has identified the niche to be profitable. The question is are you passionate about that niche, the market niches need and the product or service that fills that need?
Listen you must reevaluate your mental position on your companies products, services and mission if you find yourself not as passionate about what you're doing.
Here are 3 things to ask yourself when reevaluating your position:
- Are you having a good experience with your companies products or services still?
- Are you clear on your companies mission or vision?
- Have you bought into your companies mission or vision and come to understand what's in it for you?
Chances are, if you're not having a good experience with your services or products you're heading on a downward slope and fast. There is a good quote that showed up in my in box this morning that explains this well.
"The mind can't take you where the heart longs to go."-Debbie Ford, Author
You may be able to make a logical decision about business but your heart will tell you if it feels correct or not. How do you feel about your companies services or products and do you believe in them like you once did?
If you're not clear on your company's vision and if it doesn't align with your values then you have another issue. How do you over come this? Simple go back to step one and ask yourself how you feel about the services or products. If you feel that you're just as passionate about them as you once were then get clear again on the companies vision. People want to be a part of something and chances are if you're going to build a big team you want to convey that message that they will be.
After steps 1 and 2 ask yourself do you realize what's in it for you? Are you clear on what the profitability is going to do for you and your family? Are you clear on what you will spend your profits on and what will that mean to you?
These are some questions you will need to ask yourself before you move on.
Clarity is a wonderful thing.
